Amber Specialty Pharmacy and Omaha Community Come Together to Help Women in Need

Amber Specialty Pharmacy employees and other area businesses have come together to donate 218 personal care bags to women in need through the Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA) in Omaha.

The WCA offers programs that address the many issues facing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault while working to reduce the number of future victims through education and prevention.

Amber Specialty Pharmacy Patient Care Specialist Sarah Emge organized the donations. “The women who seek assistance through the WCA are strong. They are strong because they have the courage to seek help,” Emge said. “I admire these women and organized the donations so these women would feel appreciated.”

When other Amber Specialty Pharmacy employees decided to help out, pleas for donations were posted to employees’ personal Facebook pages. These Facebook posts led to an outpouring of support from other members of the community.

In addition to donations made by Amber Specialty Pharmacy employees, the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Omaha donated body care items like shampoo and conditioner. Storybook Cosmetics, also out of Omaha, donated makeup bags and makeup brushes. Pacific Hills Dental donated toothbrushes and toothpaste. The Ladd family of Omaha also donated several personal care items.

“The vast majority of women who use the WCA’s services put themselves second to care for their families. They deserve to feel pampered and appreciated,” Emge said. “I want these women to know they are important and that their community cares about them.”

Once all donations were collected, a group of Amber Specialty Pharmacy employees volunteered to assemble the care bags and deliver them to the WCA.
